Reports to: Field Regional Director
Location: Must reside in Arizona within the legislative district
Salary Range: : $1100-$1200 per week, dependent on experience, benefits, perks, and incentive pay offered

ABOUT

LUCHA Blue is a Progressive Political Campaign to ensure that we continue to shift Arizona's Political Landscape to a more inclusive and progressive vision. We believe that not all candidates align with the mission and vision of LUCHA, and this is why we created a campaign not only to flip Arizona Blue- but LUCHA Blue!! This year, LUCHA blue will prioritize a number of races. With a goal of creating a strategic voter contact campaign plan to include a field plan of knocking 500K doors, driving 250K calls, and layering a digital and comms strategy. Overall, the goal of the campaign is to win these targeted races, increase Latin/Hispanic voter turnout, and educate voters on the voting process.


POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Canvas Lead will work with a team of 8-10 canvassers in the field each day. Canvas Leads develop and nurture a strong and committed team by consistent training, coaching & guiding, maintaining close supervision, upholding appropriate work relationships that foster trust and respect while holding individual team members accountable to standards, and taking appropriate action promptly when necessary. The Canvas Lead has the responsibility to ensure all canvassers are meeting their daily goals, and are properly trained, guided, and supported on a daily basis. This includes discussing performance issues, immediately addressing employee relations matters, and working hand in hand with HR. Canvas leads must also maintain excellent communication amongst team canvassers and the Regional Directors, and serve as a focal point for teams, community, members, and volunteers. This is an intense engagement campaign that aims to motivate the citizens of Arizona to vote in November.


ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Canvas Lead hosts/practices ongoing training, daily team check-ins/check-outs,

  • Ensure that daily goals are met, participate in mandatory training, and attend work regularly

  • Maintain accurate track of shifts, door knocks, contacts, and overall canvas performance and immediately notify the Field Director of any issues

  • Recruitment: collect names of potential volunteers and canvassers in the field

  • Assist team members at all times to ensure that goals are met

  • Support and guide canvassers by providing training, coaching, and accompanying on the field when necessary

  • Ensure that canvassers are adhering to safety protocols, reflecting, and conducting themselves as pillars and leaders of the community

  • Must demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, support to all, exercise and promote a culture of teamwork

  • Have a positive attitude and be proactive

  • Be a team player!


QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Lead with LUCHA’s values and always keep a growth mindset, willingly taking and incorporating feedback

  • Work with a diverse team of staff, including team leads, data managers, and canvassers, with emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal communication.

  • Must attend daily Zoom meetings with Campaign Director and Regional Field Directors

  • Must have at least one social media presence/platform and share campaign material on your site

  • Lead with cultural competency and the ability to build relationships and collaborate with colleagues, voters, and volunteers who identify as POC and across lines of difference.

  • Metrics-driven approach to planning, evaluating, and reporting on work

  • Immediately identify hiring needs.

  • Be detail-oriented & organized.

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Bring previous experience using VAN or the ability to learn quickly

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Have reliable transportation and proof of current insurance

  • Have 1-2 years of experience in field campaigns

  • At least 1-2 years of experience managing teams.

  • Have access to technology-computer, internet, mobile phone

  • Must enter and track data on a daily basis

  • Knows how to use WhatsApp or Signal

  • Knows how to use BLOCKS and thru TALK & thru TEXT **Not required but helpful

  • Must be available to work 40 hours or more, which will include weekends, evenings, and holidays

  • Must be COVID Vaccinated with at least the booster/a copy of the vaccine card will need to be submitted


You will also:

  • Speaking in Spanish is preferred

  • Have a High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • College and/or relevant work experience

  • You must disclose previous employment and/or volunteer work history with ACE & LUCHA

  • Mandatory dress code-Shirts will be provided, jeans and shorts are permitted as long as they are not more than 5 inches above the knee, and closed shoes (gym shoes) are acceptable

Contingencies & Physical Requirements

This job requires travel (20%), being physically present, shadow canvassers and standing for long periods of time, walking through diverse neighborhoods and businesses for extended periods, and exposure to a variety of weather conditions (rainy, snow, hot, and/or cold), lifting up to 10 -15 pounds and frequent use of technology. Must be willing to submit a 39-month certified MVR and undergo a criminal background check. Must be able to work six (6) days a week Monday-Saturday and occasionally on Sundays.
