This year, Arizona Republicans are pushing one of the most extreme and racist anti-immigrant bill packages in the history of Arizona. These bills would violate every Arizonan’s civil liberties and would create an Arizona where every police officer, elected official, and employer is an immigration officer. The fact is that anti-immigrant laws will weaken Arizona - the state will lose millions in revenue, Arizona will face national disgrace, and all Arizonans will suffer catastrophic consequences.

HB2748/SB1231 would allow Arizona police and local agents to investigate and detain suspected undocumented individuals - while making taxpayers responsible for any civil damages. This bill will bring back to the days of SB1070, and does nothing but threaten to sow fear within communities of color and harm our state’s economy.
