Location: Must reside in Arizona within the legislative district (LD)
Salary Range: : $1250-$1400 per week dependent on experience, perks

ABOUT

LUCHA Blue is a Progressive Political Campaign to ensure that we continue to shift Arizona's Political Landscape to a more inclusive and progressive vision. We believe that not all candidates align with the mission and vision of LUCHA, and this is why we created a campaign not only to flip Arizona Blue- but LUCHA Blue!! This year LUCHA blue will prioritize a number of races. With a goal of creating a strategic voter contact campaign plan to include a field plan of knocking 500K doors, driving 250K calls, and layering a digital and comms strategy. Overall the goal of the campaign is to win these targeted races, increase latinx voter turnout, and educate voters on the voting process.


POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Data/Communications Associate will be responsible to assist with the day-to-day work to support the Lucha Blue Campaign. This is a crucial role that ensures the success of the campaign, while creating and developing efficiencies, and effective ways to track and analyze data. This position will offer the opportunity to build and develop skills and work with some of the best tools available in the movement space. In this dual role you will also work closely on the communications side of the campaign. You will be a storyteller, build narrative power and advance the goals of the organization for this campaign. You will be required to use Voter Activation Network (VAN), and EveryAction (EA). Other projects will also require the use of VAN, EA and other software/tools as needed.


ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Digital team to utilize social media, email, and direct mail to engage our supporters and promote campaign narratives

  • Develop, coordinate and implement creative communications that accompany the Lucha Blue Campaign. This includes supporting the production of communications materials for the campaign, such as fliers, talking points, fact sheets, social media toolkits and other relevant materials

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local and national journalists, reporters, and other media contacts.

  • Create and manage an earned media content calendar for the Lucha Blue Campaign

  • Create reports for all aspects of the campaign and other program data as needed

  • Provide technical support and training to staff on tools to support canvassing, volunteer mobilization and organizing activities

  • Develop both technical and end-user documentation for data processes related to the Lucha Blue Campaign

  • Create lists and Virtual Phone Banks based on a set universe

  • Communicate with program managers for needs and reporting

  • Maintain and monitor tools and data cleanliness

  • Use SQL and Sheets to create and present reports

  • Provide support on tools to staff and volunteers

  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Must have at least one social media presence/platform and share campaign material on your site

  • At least 1 year experience working with Data collection tools like the Voter Activation Network (VAN) and/or EveryAction

  • Proficient experience using Excel and Google Sheets for reporting

  • Must work well with a team and with diverse groups of people

  • Must be flexible and able to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast paced work environment

  • Must have the ability to work both independently and interdependently

  • Strong computer skills

  • Knows how to use WhatsApp or Signal

  • Knows how to use BLOCKS and thru TALK & thru TEXT **Not required but helpful

  • Commitment to the work of LUCHA and its campaigns

  • Interest in and passion for supporting progressive politics

  • The ability to communicate clearly with both technical and less-technical audiences

  • Must maintain a high level of professionalism

You will also:

  • 2-3 years experience building and executing campaign goals, plan, and vision

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required

  • High school diploma and/or GED

  • College degree and/or College hours preferred

  • You must disclose previous employment and/or volunteer work history with ACE & LUCHA

  • Mandatory dress code-Shirts will be provided, jeans, shorts are permitted as long as they are not more than 5 inches above the knee, closed shoes (gym shoes) are acceptable

Contingencies & Physical Requirements

This job requires travel (20%), to be physically present, shadow canvassers and standing for long periods of time, walking through diverse neighborhoods and businesses for extended periods, exposure to a variety of weather conditions (rainy, snow, hot and/or cold), lifting up to 10-15 pounds and frequent use of technology. Must be willing to submit a 39 month certified MVR and if necessary undergo a criminal background check. Must be able to work 6 days a week Monday-Saturday and occasionally on Sundays
